Despite now being equipped with standard gauge bogies, there are no plans to resurrect 8099 as an operational unit. Affectionately known as 'Paddy', 8099 acts as a workshop and stores for the Class 15 Preservation Society who are working on the restoration of Class 15, D8233 and Metrovic CoBo D5705.
